We’ve been getting calls to our office about cheek fat removal. Removal of the cheek fat (buccal fat pad) is a relatively easy office procedure that can be done through an incision inside the mouth so there’s no external scar.
It’s done to give the face more definition and a more sculpted look. So why not do it?

Losing fat in your face may look a little better in the short run, but most people will wish they had it back when they age.
Youthful faces are round, aging faces show loss of fullness around the eyes, cheeks, and mouth. Our faces tend to “deflate” as we age.
We feel that removing cheek fat from someone in their 20’s may speed the aging process which naturally results in loss of fullness over time. Why do you think facial injections of fillers and fat are so immensely popular?
We saw a young woman concerned about her lack of facial definition asking about cheek fat removal. She was right, her face needed something but fat removal wasn’t the answer.
We place a chin implant in the office under local anesthesia and gave her face a better look and profile that will last for years to come and not worsen with aging.
So before undergoing cheek fat removal, think twice. You may be giving up something you’ll wish you had back as you age.
